Fraser Valley Music Awards presented in 15 categories

Groups and individuals honoured at annual event hosted by CIVL Radio

The Fraser Valley Music Awards were presented last week, honouring groups and individuals in 15 categories.

The presentation took place Dec. 19 at The Stage in Mission, and recipients were from throughout the Fraser Valley.

The winner and their categories were:

– First Reign (Abbotsford), Metal

– The Springmans (Aldergrove), For and By Youth

– Kellen Saip (Chilliwack), Country

– Alexa Lynn (Surrey), Excellence by an Indigenous/First Nation Artist

– dj elixir (Mission), Electronic Artist

– Sydney Beau (Abbotsford), Excellence by a Female Artist

– Loans (Abbotsford/Mission), Punk

– Sasquatch Mind Tricks, Hip Hop

– Quintessential Jazz Band (Langley), Jazz

– Blessed (Abbotsford/Mission/Chilliwack), Experimental

– Kristin Witko (Abbotsford), Pop

– Jenny Banai (Surrey/Langley/Abbotsford), Folk

– James Buddy Rogers (Maple Ridge), Blues

– Warm Amps (Abbotsford/Mission), Rock

A winner was also named in the category of Inclusivity Award for Excellence by a Queer-Identifying Artist but they did not want to be publicly named.

The competition received a total of almost 140 nominations.
