Following an information meeting for a proposed development in French Creek, one of the people behind the development says he is getting ready to submit an application to the Regional District of Nanaimo.
Quinn Griesdale, French Creek House Ltd. director, told The NEWS that since the information meeting on April 26, there have been some updates and changes to the proposed development.

Griesdale also said the project also includes the remainder of the undeveloped Columbia Beach property along with the re-development of the French Creek House site.
In a news release from Griesdale, there are two housing types proposed on the French Creek House site: townhouses and three- to five-storey condominiums
The plans now, Griesdale said, include 20 townhouses and 136 units in the condominiums.
The number of storeys for the condos, Griesdale said, has also decreased to five from six. Griesdale previously said the French Creek House site could have up to 171 residential units comprised of townhouses, duplexes an condominiums.
On the Columbia Beach side, according to the news release, Elkay Developments Ltd. have planned single-family housing with a few duplexes.
“The proposal does not increase density above what is currently allowed, but shifts it to the French Creek House site to be able to significantly increase the amount of park and green space along both French Creek and Morningstar Creek,” the release reads.
Griesdale said he has worked closely with the boards of the French Creek Residents Association and the Friends of French Creek Conservation Society. FFCCS recently released the results of a survey it helped to conduct for the possibility of a park at the French Creek estuary.
