A fundraiser has been started for a Rosedale teen who was hit by a vehicle.
Kristen Boot, 14, was struck by a vehicle while he was crossing Yale Road in Rosedale. He was heading to work at the time, in the morning during the spring break.
Boot was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital, according to a GoFundMe page set up by Janna Lindhout to help the family with the expenses related to his care and hospitalization. They say he has suffered multiple fractions and bleeding on the right side of his brain, with many small blood clots throughout his brain.
“He remains in an unconscious state,” the page says. “It’s hard to predict when he will wake up, it be could days, weeks, or even months. The message the doctor gave to the family was an unknown long road with many ups and downs.”
The goal set for fundraising is currently $20,000 and will be used to support the loss of income for the family, school tuitions, food, gas, cost of parking, and lodging in Vancouver.
The fundraiser is called ‘The Boot Family.’
