Fundraiser set up to help mother of missing woman get to Chilliwack

Tanisha Gauthier has not been seen by family or friends since Feb. 22

The mother of a missing Chilliwack woman is trying to get here from Manitoba, to help search for her daughter.

Chilliwack RCMP say Tanisha Gauthier has not been seen since Feb. 22 in Chilliwack, adding that is “out of character for her to be out of touch this long.”

The 21-year-old woman also has a young son, according to a GoFundMe set up to help her mother, Shannon Gauthier, travel here. The account was set up by a friend of the mother. The goal on the fundraiser is $2000, and was just at $20 on Tuesday morning.

“My friend’s daughter has been missing now for about a month,” the account says. “Her mom lives in Manitoba and can’t get here due to financial situations so we are trying to raise money for her to come help locate her daughter. Tanisha has always been seen everyday by friends and family and now nobody has seen her whereabouts in a month.”

Gauthier is described as an Indigenous woman with long, dark hair, often worn in a bun, and hazel eyes. She is five-foot-three (160 cm), 150-170 lbs (68-77 kg).

“We are worried sick and now there are bad things being said. We just need to find her, and her mom needs to come look,” the account says. “Anything will help her right now so she can take the time off work and get on a plane. She takes care of Tanish’as son and they need to find his mommy. Please help.”
