Gift overwhelms family

With grateful smiles and happy tears, Robert and Roberta Redlick accepted keys for their new car

With grateful smiles and happy tears, Robert and Roberta Redlick accepted keys for their new 2005 Dodge Magnum from Tim Gares, general manager of Fix Auto.

The early Christmas gift couldn’t have come at a better time for the family that have lost both their vehicles due to mechanical issues.

Without her parents knowing, daughter Lindsay, 15, wrote and submitted a letter for the ninth annual Fix Auto Christmas Car Giveaway.

“My mom and dad needed a car really badly because my dad has a sore back and hip,” said Lindsay.

Mobility has been an issue for Robert so they have been borrowing a car from their friend who owns Partly Dave’s.

This is the ninth year Fix Auto has given away a vehicle to a family in need, and the second year that Watkin Motors partnered with them to donate the vehicle, with Sun FM promoting the campaign.

“There are so many worthy applications every year and we would love to do more for everybody, but we have to make a choice,” said Gares of the tough decision made every year.

Gares made the call to the Redlick’s Monday morning and the family said they couldn’t have been more surprised and happy.

“It’s always exciting to make that call and hear their reaction.”
