Mission residents had the chance to shine their shoes, don their suits or gowns and enjoy a night of “Gold, Glitz and Glamour” as the Mission Hospice Society hosted its annual gala evening on Saturday night.
A sold out crowd of more than 230 people attended the affair which featured fine dining, silent and live auctions as well as dancing, games and so much more.
“We had a goal to sell 224 tickets and we ended up selling 235. This has exceeded all expectations,” said Angel Elias, executive director of Mission Hospice Society.
“It has been a glamorous and fantastic evening,” she added.
The event was a celebration of 30 years for the Mission Hospice Society and 10 years for the Christine Morrison Hospice.
The ballroom at Mission’s Best Western was packed with supporters enjoying an evening of fun and fine dining.
While the evening is designed to entertain, it is also the biggest fundraiser of the year for the society.
According to Elias, this year’s goal is $45,000 and while it will be a few days before the final total raised from the evening is calculated, she is hopeful that the large turnout and support of the auctions will help the society exceed that amount.
