Our Zone 2 carpet bowling team, consisting of Barriere’s Ernie Yungen, Anke and Louis Zijderveld, and Little Fort’s Hector Denton (pictured above l-r) did our area proud at the recent Provincials in 100 Mile House. Not only did they win gold in the fours, but they won every game and earned two eight ender pins; almost three. They were on fire! The competition with the best teams from around the province was fierce.
The three’s, with Yungen and the Zijdervelds, tied with Coquitlam and 100 Mile for first place, and then won the gold in the overall count; with Coquitlam and 100 Mile placing second and third respectively.
Little Fort’s team of Mel Sasek and Hector Denton (above l-r) then brought home a bronze medal in the pairs. Again, no small feat.
Marie Lewis and Louise Phoenix (the team’s ‘Twisted Sisters’ from Kamloops) outplayed the Island but lost gold by mere points.
