The Golden and District Community Foundation (GDCF) is looking for a big idea to address a significant community need.
Specifically, the foundation is looking for a youth-led project to receive one-time funding of $15,000, which is brought to the community by the Royal Bank of Canada Future Launch Community Challenge in celebration of the bank’s 150th anniversary.
On Thursday, August 29, the GCDF hosted a community conversation as part of the Future Launch Community Challenge. Over three hours, 30 people attended the event to participate in wide-ranging facilitated discussions about community needs.
Issue areas included health and wellness, inclusion and belonging, reconciliation, and employment.
“The purpose of the event was not just to look at community needs, but to begin to fashion partnerships and ideas to address these needs. With a range of community leaders and stakeholders in the room, it was wonderful to see concepts turn into plans which will likely turn into applications for this funding,” said program manager and GCDF executive director Joy Orr. “”We’re looking for a youth-led project for this one-time funding opportunity put in place by the Royal Bank of Canada in celebration of their 150th anniversary. Part of the Future Launch Community Challenge is to host a community conversation.”
The deadline to apply for the $15,000 grant is September 18.
