His online videos get hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of views. Some call him crazy, others call him a genius.

Now, Golden local Todd Standing is receiving nationwide attention as he looks to prove the existence of Bigfoot in court by suing the B.C. government.

Standing has been studying the Sasquatch since 2005. At first, Standing said he started out to prove they didn’t exist, but after his research and multiple sightings, he’s now on a mission to prove their existence.

“It’s true,” Standing said. “I’ve proved it many times.”

Standing estimates that there are approximately 15,000 Sasquatch in the Pacific Northwest.

“They are a living species, breathing mammals,” Standing said. “They exist.”

Standing has years of tracking and wilderness experience and has used it to track multiple Sasquatch. He routinely takes people into Bigfoot territory and said many of them are willing to testify about their experiences, including a few PhDs and even Les Stroud, better known as Survivorman on television.

Standing said that the ultimate objective in this court case is to persuade the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife as well as the Alberta and BC Departments of Fish and Wildlife to do a wildlife management report of the species.

Standing believes if the case goes to court he will win without a doubt.

“I know I can win,” Standing said. “I don’t see how I can’t win. I have too much evidence. I have expert eyewitnesses. How could I lose?”

Standing claims his evidence includes video footage, DNA samples, fingerprints, and the expert witness testimonies.

“I can’t look at that individual and not feel like I’m looking into the eyes of a living creature,” Standing said.

He is still in the process of having the case be accepted by the courts. Standing said he has to prove, ironically, the legal term “standing,” which means whether a plaintiff can show that some personal legal interest has been invaded by the defendant. Standing said his standing is that he has been personally damaged because this is what he does for a living.

Discovery channel has rejected him, fish and wildlife say it’s not real, and because they’ve prevented him from making a living, Standing believes this will be enough standing to have the case go through.

“I’m 80 percent positive it will go through,” he said.

Since announcing his plan to go to court, Standing has received a lot of media attention. He said the most common question he’s been asked is why does he do it.

“I don’t have a choice,” Standing said. “I can’t not finish it.”

In addition to the pending court case, Standing released a documentary called Discovering Bigfoot which is available on Amazon, iTunes, Vimeo and soon to be on Netflix in 26 different countries. The documentary claims to showcase new crystal clear evidence of Bigfoot as well as a number of PhD’s eyewitness accounts of a Sasquatch. The documentary will also be used as evidence in the pending court case.

“I want the judge to watch the video,” Standing said.

According to Standing, the movie took nearly ten years to make with footage from multiple expeditions he has gone on.

The movie has received a very positive reaction with an average star rating of four out of five after 80 votes on Amazon, with many people praising the footage.

While there are still people who claim the video is a hoax, Standing believes it will be a big help in his pending court case.
