It’s time to pull out the bathing suit, dust off the goggles, and dive into fun at the Golden Swimming Pool.
The pool received some new additions over the winter to make the facility more accessible and storage friendly, because of a three year grant project funded by the Canada 150 Infrastructure Program and the Columbia Basin Trust.
“We are very happy to have a new change table added to our accessible change room, and more infant change tables added to the main change rooms,” says manager of recreation services Jordan Petrovics. “In addition, we now have coin activated lockers in the change rooms and on deck so folks can store their belongings in a safe place.”
Under the same grant stream, the Golden Pool introduced a Wibit inflatable play structure to the community last year with great success.
“Our Wibit inflatable play structure introduced a new world of fun at our Friday night public swims and it will be back in action this year,” says Petrovics. “This great addition to our facility turned Friday night swims into a pool party. For years, the Friday night time slot struggled to attract participants. Now the Wibit swim is the place for youth and families with kids seven years and older to be.”
Spring and summer season passes are on sale now for everyone to enjoy all of the action at the pool this year.
Memberships help to support the community facility.
“Our team is passionate about the water and excited to help everyone with showcasing the health benefits that time in the water can provide,” says recreation coordinator Kim Bryan. “Red Cross swimming lessons, private instruction programs, masters swims and our popular aquafit program offer something for every demographic. We also have instructors on our team who can help you take the next steps in becoming a certified lifeguard.”
Opening day is set for Saturday, May 19.

“In recent years the recreation team has put a big focus on gathering user feedback and addressing the community’s desires at the pool,” says Petrovics. “The granting we received allowed us to improve the facility and make the pool a better place to recreate. We are confident these enhancements will help pave the way for greater accessibility and new programing that appeals to all ages and demographics in Golden. We want to encourage everyone to enjoy this great asset in our town.”
