Their plans after graduation have them scattered across the country.
But in a quiet moment before their graduation festivities begin, the tight-knit A.L. Fortune grad students sit together writing messages in each other’s yearbooks, fixing a necklace, straightening a tie.
It is clear that A.L. Fortune’s 2014 graduation class of 51 students is savouring their final hours together.
“It’s a small school so everyone knows everyone. We are all very close,” said graduate Tiffani Furlong.
Friday night’s events started with a class photo followed by Enderby’s annual grad parade.
Students in sharp-looking tuxes and long-flowing gowns perched in the back of convertibles and trucks, waved out windows to their families and friends as they made their way down the streets of Enderby.
“It is sad because we are going to miss everyone, but exciting because we are starting a new adventure,” said Furlong.
One of her favourite high school moments started as another graduation tradition.
“Our grad sleep-over was probably one of the best memories I will have,” said Furlong.
“It is a tradition, we camp out the night before the first day of school.”
