Grand Forks RCMP arrested a 60-year-old woman for drug trafficking of marijuana just past midnight on Nov. 28.
RCMP performed a vehicle stop to a Toyota Matrix travelling on Highway 3 near Nursery Road after a constable noted the vehicle was driven very slowly.
The constable decided to perform a vehicle stop when she detected the smell of marijuana.
“The driver admitted she had a small quantity of marijuana and handed it to the constable,” said Grand Forks RCMP’s Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison. “The driver was subsequently arrested and subsequent to the arrest there was a search of the vehicle done.”
In the vehicle, 8.4 kilograms (18.5 pounds) of marijuana was found in individual bags.
The female from Nakusp was arrested and was released on the condition she appear in court to answer to charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking in marijuana.
