A rebuild of Green Avenue to Farwell Street is under consideration after Trail council reviewed a $38,000 engineering proposal this week.
Water and sewer infrastructure servicing this stretch of West Trail date back to the late 1960’s.
Public Works Director Chris McIsaac reports residents in the area have experienced numerous water line leaks and breaks as well as sewer back-ups over the years due to aging pipes.
After spending in excess of $20,000 on an emergency water main repair last year, Trail council approved 2017 capital project for the development of an engineering design and construction cost estimate for new water and sewer infrastructure of the respective lines.
McIsaac says once complete, the resulting design and construction cost estimate will allow the city to move forward with a “shelf ready” measure of certainty regarding actual construction costs.
The city received two bids in its recent Request for Proposal, however one submission was after the specified closing time and deemed non-conforming and not legally acceptable.
