Green light given to master plan for Vernon Jubilee Hospital

Process will consider the needs of existing programs and future initiatives

Long-term planning for Vernon Jubilee Hospital is moving ahead.

A request for proposals for a master site plan is being initiated and the process should be completed by December.

“With the opening of Polson tower, we need to take a fresh look at how to guide future growth and direction at Vernon Jubilee Hospital,” said  Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA.

An updated master site plan will look at the final configuration of the Polson tower and other capital projects underway now, including the expansion of the McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Centre.

The intent of the updated plan is to provide a framework for the future development and growth of the programs that did not move into the tower.

“The planning process gives us the opportunity to review population and demographic projections for the North Okanagan to ensure we continue having the right programs and services available when needed,” said Norm Embree, Interior Health Authority chairperson.
