A familiar face will run for the Green Party in Abbotsford in the upcoming federal election.
Stephen Fowler, a local teacher, will be on the ballot for the party when voters head to the polls on Oct. 21.
Fowler ran for the party in 2015, when he finished fourth with five per cent of the vote.
Fowler has taught in the Abbotsford school district for 22 years, and has also volunteered for a variety of school programs and events.
“We have viable plans in the areas of growing a green economy, addressing the climate crisis, overseeing environmental preservation and restoration, creating an equitable future for all Canadians, being a global leader, and embracing good government that leads ethically and with integrity,” Fowler said in a news release, citing the party’s “Vision Green” statement.
Fowler will face off against long-time incumbent Conservative MP Ed Fast, who won in 2015 with 48 per cent of the vote. Seamus Heffernan was recently announced as the Liberals’ candidate, Madeleine Sauve is campaigning for the NDP and Aeriol Alderking will run for the Christian Heritage Party.
