Greens announce Langford-JDF candidate

Longtime forest firefighter Brendan Ralfs will go up against NDP leader Horgan, Liberals' Noel

Brendan Ralfs of the B.C. Greens has been named the party’s candidate for Langford-Juan de Fuca in this spring’s election, joining the NDP’s John Horgan and the BC Liberals’ Cathy Noel as candidates for a seat in the legislature.

Ralfs, a fourth-generation Victoria area resident, began working as a forest firefighter in 1994 with the B.C. helicopter rappel program. During the next two decades, he worked in all corners of the province and was also deployed to other provinces and to fight Australian bushfires in 2007.

“(Ralfs’) experience managing emergencies across the province means he has a firsthand understanding of the impacts of climate change,” said B.C. Green Party leader Andrew Weaver.

The provincial election is scheduled for May 9.
