MORE THAN two dozen community groups received more than $63,000 last night from the Terrace 2010 BC Winter Games Society, the profits from staging the games here a year ago.
The $63,687.18 from the society’s legacy fund will benefit hundreds of people in a wide variety of ways, said society president Peter Weeber.
“We are really happy to see so many community groups benefit from the legacy fund. More than 1,900 volunteers stepped up to the plate last year, giving their time and efforts to make the Terrace 2010 BC Winter Games a terrific event,” said Weeber.
“It feels great to be able to give back to the community and recognize those efforts.”
“The Terrace region can again be proud of their Games hosting achievement. As we see by these various investments, the energy and enthusiasm of March 2010 will continue for years to come. said President and CEO of the BC Games Society, Kelly Mann.
The groups have one year in which to use the money granted to them.
