The next Generation Eagles – Golden Secondary’s young senior team – have wrapped up a tough but successful season, experiencing hardship, learning the game, and recognizing the value of teamwork for such a junior team.
With only three players returning from last season’s bench, the balance of the roster was made up of new players. Of those, five of the young men were Grade 9 students. Rising to the challenge of facing opposition with greater size and time on the court, these boys did not disappoint. One of the most difficult obstacles, impossible to overcome, was the loss of two of our senior players through the season. Enzo Soret and Ethan L’Heureux, though at Zone Finals, were unable to play due to injury.
It is worth noting the leadership Braxton Lentz, Soret, and L’Heureux exhibited throughout the season. Their consistent effort, commitment to the team and drive for success was evident through the season on and off the court.
This season’s team had the coaching leadership of John Oszust and Len Oszust and was managed by Jim de Bolbec. The Golden Secondary School community is grateful for commitment of these community members.
The boys know that it is what they do in the off season that will make the 2019/2020 season stronger and can be found on the court at lunchtime and after school.
