A road rage incident on the Langley-Surrey border spilled over and resulted in a crash in Willoughby earlier today.
Surrey RCMP are investigating complaints that they say “may have inovled a firearm” in the East Clayton area at about 10:25 a.m.
The initial call from a woman indicates another vehicle was being driven erratically and someone had shot at her vehicle in the area of 19200 of 72nd Avenue. She apparently pulled over to call police, and confirmed she was uninjured.
A short time later, however, the same suspect vehicle was involved in what Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann called a “relatively minor accident” at 200th Street in 72nd Avenue, in Langley.
“Officers, who believe impairment is a factor in the crash, discovered this was the same vehicle reported from the road rage incident, and arrested the occupants as a result,” Schumann said.
Surrey Mounties are taking the lead on this investigation, including the Langley crash.
Both vehicles have been seized and forensic analysis and a neighbourhood canvas for more witnesses and video surveillance are being conducted, Schumann explained.
“The investigation is just getting underway, and as such, no formal charges have been laid as of yet,” Schumann said.
“If you see a motor vehicle offence, pull over – when it’s safe. Contact your local police with as much information as possible, including vehicle description and direction of travel.”
