Roy Jones Jr. has been named BC Liberal MLA candidate in the North Coast riding for the Oct. 24 election.
The Queen Charlotte resident was announced as part of the growing team of electoral contenders under BC Liberal leader Andrew Wilkinson, in a press release late in the afternoon on Sept. 26.
Jones Jr. is currently an executive member of the National Coalition of Chiefs, engaging with First Nations and industry to develop and capitalize better communities, according to his Linkedin profile. He has been a consulting director for Aboriginal Equity Partners fostering relations with industry, community, and government as well in this position, he worked with shipping and First Nations researching marine traffic on the BC coast. It was also listed on his profile that he has been the past chairman of the Pacific Balance Pinniped Society.
“More than ever B.C. needs a competent, compassionate, responsible government that will lead our province to economic recovery,” Wilkinson said in the statement. “Our renewed BC Liberal team has a clear vision and is up to the challenge — it’s time to move away from a government that only looks out for itself and choose a future that restores confidence and rebuilds B.C.”
The Northern View reached out for comment, however Roy Jones Jr. did not immediately reply.
