Work is underway at the Haisla Habour where the materials for a boardwalk expansion have arrived.
Haisla Nation Council spokesperson Cameron Orr said the HNC fisheries department is waiting to secure equipment for installation.
“The hope is that the boardwalk, which will extend to the corner of the harbour, can be finished by the end of the summer. Next year the plan is then to extend it by connecting it to the harbour’s breakwater,” said Orr.
Rainy Day Renovations is responsible for extending the boardwalk and has employed ten Haisla members for the project.
Pilings for the project are already in place for the expansion, which is being built to enhance the look of the community and create an attractive spot for visitors.
The project was made possible through HNC’s economic development agreements.
