The Haisla Nation is the latest organization to financially commit to the Kitimat General Hospital Foundation in view of the emerging COCID-19 virus crisis.
In a short statement today, Haisla Nation chief councillor Crystal Smith said it providing $300,000 to the Kitimat General Hospital Foundation which will then use it for community preparedness.
“We are committed to do what it takes to have our communities ready for coronavirus cases,” said Smith.
“Being prepared is a responsibility that has to be shared, from the government level right down to the individual.”
The Haisla Nation, as with other local governments, is encouraging everyone to keep safe distances from people, to stay in their homes, and to practice proper hygiene to continue keeping themselves and their families safe.
Rio Tinto yesterday announced it was sending $50,000 to the hospital foundation for distribution to health care professionals at the hospital.
