On June 26, the Comox Valley RCMP received a report of shots being fired in the area of the Comox Lake dam.
Police went to the area and discovered several people, several vehicles, and several shell casings on the ground. Further investigation led to the discovery of a handgun inside one of the vehicles.
The handgun has been seized by police and the investigation is continuing. Investigators are working with the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, Police Dog Services, and the Comox Valley RCMP Drug Section.
“We were able to remove a firearm from our streets thanks to the call from a concerned citizen and the thorough investigation by officers at the scene,” said Cpl. Aaron Chamberlin of the Comox Valley RCMP.
