Family with young children make plea for return of stolen SUV

A Williams Lake family is asking the public to keep on the lookout for a vehicle stolen from their Dog Creek Road area residence overnight.

The family has three young children and the vehicle stolen is their only vehicle for transporting the whole family.

It is described as a 2002 Ford Excursion SUV, dark blue/grey in colour with a distinctive round mark on the back of the vehicle. License plate number is DFO O5D.

They believe the SUV was taken in the evening of Dec. 29 while they were sleeping.

Cpl. Jeremy Roberts said police are searching for the vehicle and haven’t located it yet, but they did recover some discarded items Sunday afternoon that the thieves ditched from the SUV.

“We did find child seats and a third row bench seat from the vehicle at a nearby gravel pit,” Roberts said.

As well as the most recent theft of the truck, several mountain bikes and tools were also stolen over the holidays, and have not been recovered, Roberts said.

Those bikes are described as a silver Norco, burgundy Specialized, a black/red Kona and a dark grey/black Kona.

In that case the owners discovered Christmas morning that their three bikes and their neighbour’s bike were all stolen.

If anyone has information about these or any other crime they are asked to contact the Williams Lake RCMP detachment at 250-392-6211.
