Dear Canimites,
A sense of real loss accompanied the news of Jean Reynolds passing.
Jean and her husband, Don, moved to Canim Lake in January 1972 to take over the resort that still bears their name today.
Feisty and energetic, and above all engaging and hospitable, the couple quickly became part of the community’s beating heart. Jean taught kindergarten at Forest Grove until 1996, and since then, had been active in the many clubs and groups of the Hawkins and Canim Lake communities.
Through the last months of her illness, with the close and tender support of Don, she never lost her interest in others and the simple joy of engaging with visitors.
A memorial gathering will be held in the Forest Grove Hall on Sept. 14 at 2 p.m., followed by a tea provided by the Canim Lake Community Club.
Jean Reynolds, a woman of uncommon grace.
Birthday boy
Steve Szilagyi of the Canim Lake Estates celebrated his BIG 4-0 recently with a bang-up party at his home.
Steve runs a busy painting business in the Lower Mainland and normally has trouble prying himself away from work to enjoy his home here in Canim country with wife, AnnaMaria, and children, Bella and Norbert.
But this was a time for the family and friends to come and celebrate Steve, summer and Canim country. And so 50 to 60 did, with music, dancing, roasting meat on the barbecue, children running free, and the laughter of friends gathered round the campfire. It was welcome shot of ‘Joie de Vivre’ for the old Estates.

That’s all for now. Until next time, here’s wishing you many blessings.
