Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for north coast areas Terrace and Kitimat starting today (July 5) and expected to continue into Tuesday (July 6).
Daytime temperature is expected to go up to 29 degrees Celsius and overnight lows near 15.
“A ridge of high pressure will bring higher than normal temperatures in the next couple of days. Cooler conditions are expected later this week,” said environment Canada in a report.
Environment Canada and local Medical Health Officers expect an increase in health and safety risks from heat and are advising the public to take precautions. People are advised to hydrate and stay in cool places, limit outdoor activities to coolest parts of the day.
Citizens are also advised to check on older family, friends and neighbours and to not leave people and pets inside parked vehicles.
