Water floods Highway 16 west near Decker Lake

Crews were forced to close Babine Road due to flooding in three areas, but Highway 16 currently remains open despite water flowing over the road.

An LDM spokseperserson said to Lakes District News the flooding is due to more water flowing through they culverts than they can handle.

LDM contractors are out working, flagging so that vehicles can pass through the two flooded areas of Highway 16 safely.

Currently water has crossed the highway west of Decker Lake Road and also near the Burns Lake Airport .

LDM is currently working to minimize the flooding with a backhoe and by sandbagging.
