Heavy rainfall is expected in Terrace and Kitimat today (Sept. 20) and tonight.
A warning was issued by Environment Canada earlier this morning for the North Coast and inland areas.
“A strong frontal system will bring heavy rain to the BC North Coast. Rainfall will intensify this evening. As the system moves through, heavy rain will ease early Tuesday morning,” said Environment Canada in the alert.
The weather agency also asked residents to exercise caution as heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
Residents have also been advised to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
