More than a month’s worth of rain fell in Chilliwack on Friday, Sept. 17.
On Saturday a local weather observer called the forecasting for the deluge, “excellent.”
An all-time record was broken with a total rainfall of 89.5 millimetres for Chilliwack, said Roger Pannett, volunteer weather observer for Environment Canada.
The previous record for the day was 30.2 mm, set in 1970.
Previous all-time monthly record for September rainfall was 85.6 mm on September 23, 1903.
The Chilliwack rainfall records go back to 1879, Pannett said.
