One table at this year’s Fort St. James Craft Fair Nov. 16 and 17 will have some children making their mark, but not with paints or crayons.
Instead, parents will have the opportunity to learn how to make and keep identity records for their children, including fingerprinting.
RCMP will be at the largest craft fair in northern B.C. in the Fort St. James Secondary School helping parents properly fingerprint and keep current photos as well as have DNA samples available in the unfortunate event of a missing child.
Parents who don’t have their children at the craft fair with them will be able to set up a time to conduct fingerprinting of their children.
The fingerprints and DNA samples as well as a current photo would then be provided to the RCMP by the parents if the child ever went missing.
RCMP said having an up to date photo helps quickly get the information out to the public and provides the best chance of finding the child quickly.
