The big night is on the way.
The announcement for the top two communities in the Kraft Hockeyville competition will be made Saturday night on Hockey Night in Canada, during the second intermission of the 7 p.m. Calgary -Edmonton game. If Salmon Arm is one of the two, voting will open for the final time at 9 Saturday night and will remain open until 9 Monday night.
The Hockeyville committee has announced what’s planned for voting if Salmon Arm makes it into the top two:
• The home base for Hockeyville voting will be set up at the Prestige Harbourfront Resort in the lobby area beginning Sunday morning and running until Monday night. Different community organizations will be taking scheduled shifts to staff the voting home base. Residents are also invited to stop in and spend time voting. Some laptops will be available but residents are encouraged to bring their own iPads and laptops if possible.
• A challenge has been sent out from the Salmon Arm Chamber of Commerce for all local businesses to consider allowing staff to vote for one hour during the work day on Monday, if this is a possibility for your organization.
• Salmon Arm Economic Development Society is also issuing a challenge/request for all residents to consider voting a minimum of 1,000 times, about two to two-and-a-half hours each, over the course of the 48-hour voting period.
