Oak Bay High students have washed cars, collected bottles and gone door-to-door raising money for this year’s Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock.
This weekend their focus is on the community with their big family fun fair at Willows Beach Park on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event includes face painting, obstacle courses, entertainment, prizes and a barbecue. All money raised at the event goes toward Cops for Cancer.
The students have also been busy preparing for their annual head shave event which will fill the school gym with lunch hour activities for kids and school staff next Tuesday.
The Tour de Rock riders arrive in Oak Bay on Thursday, Oct. 2 and will make a special stop at Oak Bay High to accept the proceeds of the student’s fundraising activities.
The Canadian Cancer Society’s Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock is a long distance bike ride which raises money for pediatric cancer research and programs for children with a history of cancer. The Tour de Rock team cycles from one end of Vancouver Island to the other, over 14 days, covering 1,000 kilometres.
