Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Cariboo.
The organization says southerly winds, gusting from 50 km per hour to 80 km per hour, are expected this afternoon in the region. As well, westerly winds gusting to 70 km per hour are predicted for much of the province’s central and southwestern Interior.
The winds are attributed to a low pressure system, which Environment Canada says will track inland Dec. 20, and across the Interior during the night.
The winds are expected to ease overnight, as the low pressure system moves east to Alberta.
Rain is also predicted in Quesnel Dec. 20, with Environment Canada predicting a 60 per cent chance of rain or snow flurries in Williams Lake.
