Highway 1 north of Hope is once again open, to single lane alternating traffic, after an accident after 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 forced a full closure of the highway for hours.
The highway was closed at American Lake Road, with no estimated time of re-opening Drive BC stated shortly before 2 p.m. The closure was due to a vehicle incident between Ross Rd. and American Creek Rd.
A crew from Hope Volunteer Search and Rescue were on the scene, describing it as a multi-vehicle accident. Several drivers reported multiple vehicles involved, including including multiple cars rear-ended and a pick up truck with a camper on a barrier.
Whether there are any injuries is not yet clear, the Hope Standard has reached out to the RCMP’s traffic services for further information.
