A project to resurface a section of Highway 97 in the South Cariboo is underway as those who have travelled between Clinton and 100 Mile House will already know.

There will be some delays and motorists are reminded to obey the posted speed limits and the flaggers.

The resurfacing project covers 21 kilometres of Highway 97 from the Big Bar Rest Area, which is north of Clinton, to Willow Drive in 70 Mile House.

The project also includes resurfacing 1.6 km of Chasm Road from the south end

junction of Highway 97 to the Chasm Mill access.”

Dawson Construction from Kamloops was awarded the $3.4-million project, which is scheduled to finish by the end of September.

This project will see a stretch of Highway 97 resurfaced, bringing safer and smoother driving conditions to motorists using this corridor, says Fraser-Nicola MLA Jackie Tegart.

“It is important we keep up with these improvements, while we continue to prioritize four-laning this stretch from Cache Creek to Prince George.”
