The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure held an open house at the 70 Mile Community Hall on Feb. 16 to inform the public on the plans for upcoming work on Highway 97.
The hall was open between 3 and 7 p.m. to allow residents to view plans on the proposed improvements north of 70 Mile House.
Many ministry employees were available for discussions. The room was divided in half, one for each of the two projects.
The first display covered the Stormy Road project. This begins where the previous four-lane construction ended and continues past Stormy Road.
The plans show some small changes to the road elevation, reducing the slopes in several places. Ministry project manager Sue Stankievech and technician Michael Aldred explained the details of the project and to answer questions.
The second display showed the four-laning from Loch Lomond to the north boundary of 70 Mile House. Project manager Lisa Miller and technician Scotty McKenzie answered questions about this phase of construction.
Interior Roads area manager Michelle Schilling was also available to answer questions regarding the Highway 97 in general.
