A house on Hilchey Road is in ruins after fire broke out yesterday.
Campbell River Fire Chief Dean Spry said the extent of damage to the home is serious.
“The damage is going to be probably a total loss,” said Spry. “They’ll have to tear the building down.”
The fire department was called out to a house in the 300 block of Hilchey Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
According to Spry, two stations responded and about five fire trucks were on scene. It took crews until about 10:45 p.m. to put the fire out.
No one was home when the fire broke out, as they were at a family member’s house watching the Grey Cup football game.
Details surrounding the cause of the fire are not being released at this time.
“We’re not giving out a whole lot of information right now,” said Spry. “We’re still investigating the cause.”
