Kelowna RCMP are looking for the individual(s) responsible for some $20,000 damage to the Fintry Queen Paddlewheeler.
The insult to this iconic piece of the Okanagan’s history since 1948 occurred after it was last visited by its caretaker on Dec. 9. It was found pilfered and damaged at just after 11 a.m. on Dec. 15 when the caretaker was showing it to potential buyers.
“Police believe that entry to the vessel was gained through a sliding door,” said Const. Steve Holmes.
Once inside, the vandal(s) spray painted walls, damaged mirrors, furniture and other fixtures, stole liquor and other items and made a mess with garbage and broken bottles.
Police have seized items from the vessel and the RCMP Forensic Ident Unit has examined the scene.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
