Hit and run accident leaves woman with minor injuries

Penticton RCMP want to hear from witnesses and the woman who was struck

After a woman was struck by a car Friday, Penticton RCMP is seeking witnesses.

At 2 p.m. on Nov. 30, a witness called the police to report a female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at Nanaimo Avenue and Ellis Street.

One witness stated they saw a small grey car approaching the intersection just as a pedestrian was stepping onto the sidewalk. The driver struck the pedestrian, who went up over the hood of the car. The vehicle then immediately departed the scene, before emergency crews arrived.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital and later released with minor injuries, but she left the hospital before the police had a chance to speak with her.

Const. James Grady said that along with witnesses, the RCMP also want to speak with the woman who was struck and are encouraging her to contact the RCMP.

The Penticton RCMP is requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at 250-492-4300.
