There was major damage done to a Courtenay neighbourhood on Friday as a result of a hit-and-run.

At approximately 2 a.m. Saturday morning (Friday night) a large vehicle, likely red in colour, smashed through three front yards on Northland Place in Courtenay, taking out a garbage stand, a tree, and ramming a Toyota Tacoma with enough force to push the truck five feet along a driveway.

Skid-marks show nine-inch wide tires and contact with the Tacoma was roughly 40 inches from the ground.

Damage to the vehicle will include a broken corner light, (likely front left)  as some of the residual plastic was found at the scene.
