Police are looking for the driver of a black Mercedes Benz who smashed into a fence along Corcan Road on Friday causing “significant damages” to both the luxury vehicle and the fence.
“It’s a hit and run and we need to know what occurred,” said Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman.
He confirmed the collision happened on a rural property north of Qualicum Beach at an unknown time of the day. Foreman said the driver of the vehicle drove right over a ditch and into the fence then somehow managed to get out, potentially with the use of a tow truck.
“We want to make sure a passenger, if there was one, and the driver are okay and find out why they didn’t report it to police,” he said. “We’re thinking someone must know something, a body shop or a neighbour.”
Based on vehicle parts and debris left over from the incident, police have provided investigators with a make and model of the suspect vehicle.
Foreman described it as a black Mercedes Benz, C-class sedan between the model years of 2008 – 2011.
