The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Chilliwack is set to close Saturday.
With the recent sale of the building at 45742 Yale Road, Sally Ann is planning a big move to a new, as yet undisclosed location.
“The Salvation Army Thrift Store has been a fixture in Chilliwack for many years, providing quality used merchandise to the community,” said Tim Bohr, community ministries director.
Every dollar they earn goes right back into the community, through their various programs.
Last year the Thrift Store also gave away just under $25,000 in clothing and household goods to needy families through its ‘Voucher Room’ program. They recycled 145 tonnes of used clothing, keeping that waste out of the landfill.
Other services supported by the Thrift Store include The Salvation Army Food Bank, Family Services, Soup Kitchen, Emergency Disaster Services, Homeless Outreach program, Emergency Shelter and Extreme Weather Shelter, Third Party Cheque Administration, Fireside Addiction & Counseling Services, and Children’s Camps.
An announcement about the new thrift store location is coming soon. A few years ago they purchased the property next door.
