The Arts Station was bustling and alive with artisans, shoppers and live music on Saturday for the Holiday Artisan Fair.
The event, which featured local Elk Valley artisans ran from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and drew a large crowd of people.
It was Alleine Anselmo’s first time as a vendor at the Artisan Fair and she said it was a great way to get her products out into the community. Anselmo sat in front of her table covered in various wooden designs, ranging from a bathtub caddy to candle holders and a combination coffee mug and wine glass rack.
“The company is called Penny Lane Designs,” said Anselmo. “It’s my dad and I. We do custom wood projects, we build things out of pallets, wine barrels, you name it – we build it.”
According to Anselmo, their most popular product is the wine tray. “We sold quite a few of those last year.”
Anselmo certainly wasn’t the only artist showcasing their work on the weekend. Sharlene Czeh was also there, displaying her unique jewellery designs.
“I’ve been doing jewellery for 11 years,” she explained. “It’s all up-cycled and all one of a kind.”
Czeh, who shows her designs at the Fernie Arts Co-op said that she wanted to do the Artisan Fair because she “thought it was a nice venue – small and intimate.”
With live music and a cheerful crowd, the atmosphere at The Arts Station was definitely one of a community excited to support their local artisans.
