Median home prices in Quesnel are set to rise five per cent according to BC Assessments.
Home owners in the area will receive their 2021 assessment notices in the next few days, according to a BC Assessment news release.
“For most of Northern B.C.’s homes, there has been a moderate increase compared to last year’s assessments,” Deputy Assessor Jarret Krantz said. “In some instances, there has been a larger increase in rural areas within the region, particularly with lakefront properties.”
Quesnel’s median assessment in 2020 was $212,000, and will be $223,000 in 2021. Assessments are made as of July 1 of the previous year.
“Overall, Northern BC’s total assessments increased from over $69 billion in 2020 to over $72 billion this year,” notes the news release. A total of about $707 million of the region’s updated assessments is from new construction, subdivisions and rezoning of properties.”
One of the areas seeing large increases is Wells. The median home price in the town is set to rise 15 per cent, the second highest in northern BC, only behind Burns Lake.
Assessments are available on the BC Assessment website, which also allows owners to compare assessments ac cross the province.
Elsewhere in the Cariboo, Williams Lake saw an increase of seven per cent in median home assessment, and 100 Mile House saw an increase of two per cent.
