Wells Gray Lively Arts presented Jen Maurer and Anthony Papaleo in the Dutch Lake Community Centre (DLCC) sitting room on Oct. 22. This was the inaugural event for the Home Routes Season 12 2018/2019.

In a two hour performance, Jen and Anthony, from Ohio, U.S.A., mesmerized the 30 people in attendance with a performance that generated two standing ovations at the conclusion of the evening. Their music covered a wide range of genres including including 1930s Jazz and Blues, Cajun styles, Zydeco and traditional Southern folk, all with their own unique interpretation and style.

Their musicianship was extraordinary with Jen playing acoustic stand-up bass, acoustic guitar and aqueezebox while Anthony’s guitar playing on his steel bodied resonator showed his musical wizardry and versatility when he played a type of Cajun/Roots style fiddle.

While they both shared vocals, and performed harmonies, many in the audience felt Jen’s vocals had some Billy Holiday roots.

There will be four more performances in the Home Routes Season 12. Next up is Silk Road performing on Monday, November 19 at Dutch Lake Community Centre. Tickets are available at DLCC front office and can be purchased individually or as a seasons pass. The dates for 2019 are Feb. 4, March 4 and April 1.

In addition to the Home Routes Season, the Lively Arts Society will be hosting COD Gone Wild at Dutch Lake Community Centre as part of their Christmas tour.

Please check with DLCC front office for times, dates and tickets for this performance.
