A pants-less man was arrested for breaking into a home in the Hudson Bay Trailer Park in Smithers on Jan. 27. At around 4 a.m., RCMP say they were alerted to a report of a break and enter in progress at the trailer park.
Police arrived to find the suspect male lying in a vehicle parked in from of the victim’s residence. What allegedly happened in the man broke down the front door to the home and entered the trailer. A female youth in the home saw it happen and yelled for help. The owner of the home confronted the man and the two fought. The suspect was allegedly intoxicated. The suspect wouldn’t leave and the homeowner then decided to hit the man in the knees with a baseball bat.
Police report that the man then crawled out of the home.
The suspect was taken to the Bulkley Valley District Hospital for treatment before being moved to jail cells at the Smithers RCMP detachment. The suspect, named as 32-year-old Aaron Tom, has been charged with several offences, including forcible entry and being unlawfully in a dwelling house. Tom will return in court later this month. The police are continuing to investigate this matter.
