Homicide investigators are now handling the probe into a suspicious death of a man found in a car in Newton.
On Friday, March 11 at about 9 p.m., police were called to 79 Avenue and 125 Street on a report of a car hitting a tree.
Police found a man inside the vehicle suffering from injuries “inconsistent with a car crash,” the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said in a release Saturday.
A witness at the scene believed the man had been shot, but that account has not been confirmed by police.
The man in the car was rushed to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
“We are looking for anyone that may have been in the area at the time of the crash to come forward with information,” said IHIT Sgt. Stephanie Ashton.
