Police hope the public can help locate an electric bicycle stolen from a Belgian couple honeymooning in Nanaimo last week.
According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, the couple was at Colliery Dam Park on June 8 at 2 p.m. and decided to go on an afternoon hike.
At 3:30 p.m., when they returned to their motorhome, they realized their e-bike, valued at $15,000, had been stolen from the vehicle’s rack and the lock securing it had been cut.
“We reached out to the couple for more details on the make and model, and serial number for the bike, but we have not received a call back. They are most likely continuing their travels, but sadly, without their very expensive bike,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.
If you have any information on the location of the bike, or who may be responsible for the theft, Nanaimo RCMP asks that you call its non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
