The Hope Brigade Days are back.
The volunteer committee announced Tuesday that they are bringing the “signature community event” back for 2021. The event will run Sept. 10, 11 and 12.
No solid details have been announced yet, but the possibility of a form of Brigade Days has been talked about for months. The committee will be working closely with Hope Motor Sports to bring the weekend back to town.
Like most other large events in 2020, the Hope Brigade Days was sidelined due to COVID-19 concerns.
In May, Peter Adamo was hoping to see restrictions ease enough and numbers to be low enough to confidently plan certain events. Normally, the committee spends the entire year getting everything into place, including sponsorships and agreements with entertainers.
“It’s really quite simply the marquee event for the entire district and beyond,” Adamo said at the time, with families normally gathering and reuniting, and coming in from all points to celebrate. It’s also a chance for the sponsors and their employees to pitch in and take part, which is often a great morale booster for work teams.
Several community events have returned around the Fraser Valley, albeit with some adjustments for provincial health requirements. The Chilliwack Fair and the Abbotsford International Airshow were both held last weekend. The weekend prior, the Abbotsford Agrifair went ahead. In Hope, the biennial Chainsaw Carving Competition moves ahead next weekend (Aug. 20-22).
Anyone wanting to help out this year and in the coming years is asked to connect with the volunteer team through their Facebook page, Hope Brigade Days.
Watch for more details as the event nears.
