In front of a crowd, Marcel Moose of MNP drew the winning ticket for the Comox Valley Hospice Society (CVHS) fifth annual ultimate fifty/50 raffle at the Kingfisher Resort and Spa.

The winning ticket holder, Scott McLennan, a retired RCMP officer, jubilantly expressed his disbelief and excitement saying, “You made my year!”

Paula Horky, CVHS president noted, “The money from this raffle raised for hospice will help fund the emotional and spiritual care of people who are living with dying, grieving and caregiving at home, in care facilities, in Hospice at The Views and in hospital which is offered free of charge by a small staff and dozens of well-trained volunteers.”

This whole-person care helps make every moment matter for our families, neighbours and friends, and is available only because of the generosity of this community who fund more than 70 per cent of the costs every year.”

She added that the community hospice will have more capacity with two additional suites added to the four being moved from Hospice at The Views as well as the CVHS outpatient offices at Ocean Front Village now being built on Cliffe Avenue and scheduled to open in 2021.
